THE RIDE
Start at the Ishpro Center in Modi'in, with plenty of parking. You can also start at Caffit in Anava Park, or at Latrun to cut the route shorter.
The climb from Eshtaol up to Ramat Raziel is 6.8 km at 6.4%, with ramps up to 15% - the steepest of the three roads up to Jerusalem. Nothing technical besides the climb. The same 6.8 km back down is the reward.
PLAN THE DAY
Start at the Ishpro Center in Modi'in. Plenty of parking. Alternatives: Caffit in Anava Park, or Latrun to shorten the route.
Open start pin ↗Latrun, the Shimshon Junction gas station at Eshtaol, and water at the Scroll of Fire. Out and back, so the same stops cover the way home.
Open Shimshon Junction water stop ↗Ride any time of year. In summer go early morning - midday heat is bad. Allow 3 to 4 hours.
